In this exclusive interview, Fredrik Axelsson – the founder and owner of FX Airguns– talks to Hard Air Magazine from his factory in Sweden. We think you will find our conversation very interesting! Today, Fredrik talks about how he first became interested in airguns and how that led to the formation of FX Airguns.
What is a FX impact M3?
A rifle that advances and evolves to push the boundaries of what compressed air can achieve. The Impact M3 once again redefines this high standard with groundbreaking advancements, upgrades, and a sole unwavering focus on creating the most advanced, most accurate, and most capable airgun you’ll ever shoulder.

The FX Impact defines what a modern air rifle can be. A gun without limits. It’s a one-off gun. A rifle that advances and evolves to push the limits of what compressed air can achieve. The Impact M3 redefines that high standard again with groundbreaking advancements, upgrades and a single unwavering focus on creating the most advanced, accurate and capable airgun you will ever shoulder.
The improvements in the M3 start with its dual controls. The 1st regulator reduces the air pressure in preparation for the 2nd regulator. As a result, the 2nd regulator is less loaded and a more constant outlet pressure with lower standard deviations is achieved.
The FX Power Plenum 720 is the new power source of the Impact M3. This larger diameter plenum and its 72cc compressed air volume provide both the exact amount of air and the power needed to propel the projectile. This new plenum works in concert with the M3’s porting and valving to deliver the best performance and efficiency available.
One of the Impact M3’s major upgrades is the rifle’s user interface: the Quick Tune System. This essentially tool-less system includes everything a shooter can use to fine-tune their rifle’s accuracy and offers unlimited possibilities. Adjust the air pressure the rifle uses via the dual controls, how long the valve stays open with the front valve adjuster, and now adjust the hammer’s strength with the completely redesigned micro and macro power settings. The Rear Macro Power Wheel is a 16-position power wheel that adjusts the strength of the hammer in increments of 5-15 FPS (depending on caliber and reg pressure). This works in conjunction with the micro fine tuning. This adjusts the hammer strength in incredibly small increments of just 1-2 fps with each click of the castor, all at the touch of a button. This combination is unrivaled in the world of airguns!
Other improvements are vast and include an ambidextrous short-stroke cocking lever with an enlarged grip, dual transfer ports on most calibers, tightened barrel housing tolerances to ensure a tighter fit and better accuracy for the rifle, tightened bolt tolerances to accommodate the side-shot magazine to accommodate, an updated trigger that offers a crisp second-stage break while still allowing for forward or backward movement of the trigger post, 20 MOA built into the scope rail, two Wika pressure gauges, and a plethora of upcoming optional accessories.
The FX Impact is considered the best airgun ever made. The proof is undeniable. Shooters flock to the FX Impact in droves, competition lines are dominated with this rifle’s presence, and shooters continue to expand what an airgun can do with a rifle; the FX influence. Why? It works, it delivers, and it continues to provide the foundation for innovation. The FX Impact M3 represents the claim: The FX Impact M3 is the most advanced, most exciting and most precise air rifle there is.
Note: The muzzle energy listed in each rifle’s specifications is for the maximum setting. Due to different regulations, the rifle is often produced from the factory with a lower muzzle energy. Contact your dealer for more information on muzzle energy in your area.
What is the most powerful air rifle in South Africa?
Jkhan Sepatia Bullpup – The Most Powerful Air Rifle in South Africa.

perfomance
While performance is always dependent on the charge in the air tank, the .22 caliber Jkhan Sepatia Bullpup PCP delivers up to 60 joules or 44 foot-pounds of energy for final performance on smaller game. Even at this power, the rifle only produces about 85 decibels of output power. The Tactical Defense Store provides a muzzle energy calculator on their website that can be used to determine the exact energy delivery for different weight pellets at different velocities.
accuracy
The accuracy of the Jkhan Sepatia Bullpup is unmatched in the airgun industry. Thanks to the gun’s rifled barrel, unique ergonomic, friendly bench-rest stock design, and crisp 2-pound draft arm assembly, with the right load and air pressure, the rifle is capable of firing 3.1mm or to shoot 1/8-inch groups at 100 yards, or 91 yards. With the 180cc air tank fully filled, the rifle can fire approximately 40 shots. It is important to note that different weight pellets will have different grouping results at different speeds, determined by the load in the tank.
build quality
The Jkhan airgun features an oil-finished walnut stock with laser-cut checkering and cheek pads, and a fully jacketed 450mm barrel bolt cut to half an inch UNF, all of which combine to provide an attractive profile. A 10-round side-leverage magazine with dual prevent-load system and a two-stage, three-position, fully adjustable trigger with manual safety ensure silky-smooth operation. A smaller pistol grip provides a secure and comfortable grip. The 10-round magazine delivers plenty of follow-up shots without having to stop to reload. With an integrated pressure gauge, you always know how much air is left in the tank.
Included accessories
With the included moderator or suppressor and threaded jacket end, the rifle’s sound output drops to a whispering 76 decibels. A fill probe or nipple is also included, as is a 20mm Picatinny rail for mounting optics. The rifle comes with two 10-round magazines. A scope and inflation pump are not included in the standard package and must be purchased separately.
Licensing Requirements
As with all products sold by the Tactical Defense Store, no license is required to purchase or use the Jkhan airgun in South Africa.
Conclusion
Light enough to be carried through the brush but heavy enough to help you hit the target, overall the .22 caliber Jkhan Sepatia Bullpup is a lot of airgun for the money. It hits hard, yet is quiet enough not to startle other wildlife that may be nearby. The Tactical Defense Store operates an online store and physical stores in South Africa stocking the .22 Caliber Jkhan Sepatia Bullpup, and also stocks a wide range of other airguns, blank guns and many other types of tactical gear.
What comes with FX impact?
The FX Impact comes standard with features that airgunners have come to expect; like an adjustable recoil pad, cheek rest, foster quick fill connector, Picatinny rails, air regulator, and a new ultra quiet shroud system.

Tuning to Perfection FX has set the bar for airgun tunability. The Impact, the Crown and now the Dreamline are the most user adjustable pistols on the market. The spring tension of the hammer can be easily adjusted by turning a dial. An externally adjustable regulator makes tuning the weapon even easier. With a focus on precision and speed, even fine-tuning the valve itself is done in seconds. If you want adjustability then these are the ultimate airguns for your needs. These adjustments allow you to switch barrels and calibers, tune the gun for accuracy with a specific pellet, or dial down performance in your backyard and in the field with total control and ease. Change the power level and still maintain the generous round count that FX airguns are known for for an added bonus. You don’t have to adjust your weapon; Each weapon is individually tuned at the factory, and if you buy an Impact or a Crown, you can just leave them alone. However, if you don’t need this level of customization, consider FX’s other offerings. For example, the Streamline gives you a single performance wheel for three easy performance options, and the Wildcat comes perfectly tuned from the factory for performance and accuracy. All FX pistols have two-stage, adjustable, match-grade triggers, and when we say match-grade, we mean it. The bullpups can be adjusted to under a pound and traditional rifles like the Royale can go down to 4 ounces! Best of all, the break is crisp and clean, making these triggers some of the finest found on any rifle.
Noise Cancellation The noise cancellation of FX Airguns silences the competition. Depending on the model and caliber you purchase, your gun will come with either an extendable or stackable jacket or a fixed DonnyFL silencer. The extendable sheath is extremely effective and also very practical. Collapse for compact portability and expand to make your shot whisper-quiet. Effective and easily stackable, the covers give you the ability to choose the level of sound cancellation by simply adding an extra module when needed. A word of warning about your FX airgun, it will be so quiet you’ll think something is wrong! With a DonnyFL suppressor, FX brings you the ultimate in noise cancellation. Every Dreamline we sell comes standard with a custom made DonnyFL presenter.
A Barrel Like Never Before Now for the most celebrated innovation of FX airguns, the Smooth Twist and Smooth Twist X barrels. Designed by Ben Taylor and FX owner Fredrik Axelsson, the Smooth Twist barrel has a polished, smooth finish throughout most of its length Bore with pulls in the last two inches only. This rifling is coined from the outside, maintaining the smooth finish of the barrel and imparting twist to the pellet but without the sharp indentations typical of traditional rifling. The polished pellet edges resulting from the Smooth Twist barrel increase the pellet’s ballistic coefficient. It stores energy longer and withstands the wind better. The smooth twist barrel also gives the pellet a slower spin rate than traditionally rifled barrels, and whether it’s for better pellet joinability, less spin drift, or an angel’s kiss, the results are proven match-winning precision. Since their introduction, Smooth Twist barrels have won so many competitions that naysayers have disappeared, and they’ve quickly become the most sought-after barrels worldwide for competitions ranging from Field Target to Extreme Benchrest. The best shooters know they need an edge. The Smooth Twist barrel is the edge. One of the best things about FX Airguns is that they never stop innovating. Released with the FX Crown, the Smooth Twist X barrel rocked the airgun world. The Smooth Twist X system, a barrel liner inserted into the barrel, allows shooters to do what they’ve never done before, which is change twist rates, match pellets to barrel liners, and unthinkable range of ammunition from a single gun to shoot. Airgunning will never be the same again. As with the original Smooth Twist barrel, the twist of the Smooth Twist X is impressed from the outside. This preserves the mirror finish on the inside of the barrel, eliminates leaflets and ensures consistency over thousands of shots, but instead of just drawing near the muzzle, the rifle extends the full length of the barrel liner. At the time of this writing, Smooth Twist X bushings were only $99, making them not only incredibly exciting but also affordable. This is the biggest innovation in airguns since the Smooth Twist barrel! FX has made it extremely easy to change the caliber of both the Impact and the Crown. Whether it’s a Smooth Twist or Smooth Twist X barrel, all you need is a barrel kit that includes the probe, barrel and sheath. Now you can go from .117 caliber to .30 caliber in just a minute or two, and the settings on the gun allow you to fine-tune it for everyone! This range of possibilities and this level of comfort and adjustability has never been seen before.
More Shots Per Fill In addition to power, accuracy, and reliability, FX airguns have some of the highest round counts available in an airgun. This is due to the extreme precision and reliability of the valving, elimination of hammer blow, internal regulators and large air reservoirs found in most FX airguns. You can expect about 60-75 full power shots from a .22 caliber air cylinder gun like the Wildcat and Dreamline. A bottle gun like Impact, Royale or Crown will get you about double that. Most FX airguns come with a pressure gauge so you can monitor the air tank. Some, like the Impact and Crown, have an additional regulator gauge! And some FX pistols have a detachable air tank so you can take a spare to the field or range.
Where are FX air guns made?
FX Airguns AB is a Swedish manufacturer of air rifles based in Mariestad, Västra Götaland.
Fx Impact M3 Price South Africa
FX Airguns is known in the industry for its proprietary “Smooth Twist” barrels, which use hybrid rifling with a long smoothbore section and press-forged slow-twist rifling near the muzzle. Later in 2017, FX introduced the “Smooth Twist X” barrels, which allow the user to easily swap out barrels of different calibers and different twist rates. FX airguns are also known for innovative features such as the interchangeable air hoses and power dial, and the ability to fire darts on some models. The company is one of the first manufacturers to produce modular airguns.
In 2020, FX Airguns employee Philip Jönsson won the gold medal in the mixed 10m airgun standing SH2 event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan. Philip is the first athlete with Duchenne muscular dystrophy to win a gold medal at the Paralympics.
history [edit]
Fredrik Axelsson has been an avid airgun enthusiast since he started shooting at the age of 5.[1] In late 1989 he started making things for airguns after being disappointed with an English made .22 caliber spring piston airgun he bought for shooting pigeons in a tree with which he had shot very little actually, because the spring broke after a few months. As a result, Axelsson built his own gas lifter, but he didn’t like the recoil, although it worked fairly well. He then began experimenting and making other types of airguns, including a 9mm CO 2 rifle and a 20-gauge airshotgun with interchangeable chokes. After experimenting with pump-operated pneumatic rifles, Axelsson went on to develop PCP rifles.[1]
In 1994, Axelsson developed the original design for the Independence rifle. As there were not many SCUBA diving activities in Sweden, one of the issues that had to be addressed was the difficulty of finding gas cylinders to charge the rifles. Axelsson has developed a three-stage hand pump that alleviates this difficulty when refilling PCP airguns. In 1995 he brought the ideas to a local company and started producing the hand pump. He then took the pump off the Independence rifle and sold it to Webley & Scott, which later became the Webley Axsor rifle. He also made the Timberwolf rifle around the same time.[1]
Axelsson’s partnership with this company ended in May 1999 when he resigned without taking on any of his patents and formed his own company, FX Airguns. After Webley & Scott agreed to a manufacturing contract on the condition that all of FX’s newly developed products must fit Axsor stocks, Axelsson manufactured the FX2000. In 2000, Axelsson filed a patent for a new pump and electric air compressor, followed by the Cyclone rifle in 2001.[1]
In 2001, Axelsson considered entering the American market as American airgun regulations are less restrictive and there were already a significant number of enthusiasts in North America. He contacted American airgun collector Ingvar Alm for advice, who recommended the retailer Airguns of Arizona. AOA President Robert Buchanan agreed to have samples of the FX2000 and Excalibur rifles and was very impressed with the rifle’s accuracy and light weight (due to Axelsson’s design of light hammers hitting small valves). [2] Axelsson was also unhappy with its Italian stock supplier at the time, so FX began building its own machines that would produce the synthetic stocks it wanted. FX’s penetration into the North American markets was a great success and in 2009 Axelsson decided to shift the company’s focus to the Americas due to the commercial freedom and more innovation-friendly consumer mentality compared to the markets in Europe.[3]
In 2005, after Axelsson had some problems with barrels supplied by other contractors, Axelsson decided that the company needed to manufacture its own barrels and began development of a combination smoothbore and rifled barrel design, which later became the company’s ” Smooth Twist” rifle became. After showing his project to British airgun specialist Ben Taylor in 2007, Taylor Axelsson gave him the idea of making the barrel by indenting the barrel from the outside, which enabled FX to produce high quality barrels quickly.[3]
In 2012, using the FX Boss airgun, Axelsson won the annual Extreme Benchrest competition (sponsored by Airguns of Arizona) held in Green Valley, Arizona[4] where 4 other top 10 competitors also used FX airguns . Since then, FX airguns have grown in popularity among competitive shooters, with nearly 3/4 of the top 20 Extreme Benchrest competitors in both the Pro and Sportsman classes using FX airguns in 2017.[5][6]

History of FX Airguns FX Airguns was founded in 1999 by airgun enthusiast Fredrik Axelsson and is based in Mariestad, Sweden. The company has a team of more than 50 engineers, designers and developers. About FX Airguns Swedish owned FX Airguns has quickly made a name for itself as a leading manufacturer of airguns with a huge range including very high powered versions. The company is known for its constant development approach, resulting in a seemingly never-ending stream of revisions, upgrades, and modifications to its products. The FX Impact has achieved near-cult status for its tactical looks, adjustability and overall performance. FX also deserves credit for the significant role it played in the resurgence of slug ammunition through the development of specialty barrels and barrel liners.
FX airgun models
FX produces a huge catalog of pre-loaded pneumatic (PCP) airguns, some of which can be modified to shoot darts or bolts where the laws permit. As is its nature, FX is constantly developing modifications and improvements to allow its customers to update their rifles between major new version releases. In addition, many of his rifles are designed to have interchangeable barrels, including those suitable for shooting slugs, so the caliber can be changed.
FX Wildcat, Wildcat MK2 and Wildcat MK3 When it was released, the FX Wildcat was considered one of the first successful bullpup designs. The MK2 continued to build on that reputation and the current version, the MK3, continues the tradition. Distinguished by its black plastic stock, the MK3 is available with either a 500mm barrel (Compact) or a 700mm barrel (Sniper) in calibers up to .30 and benefits from a larger plenum, airflow and compression ratio improvements valve assembly. As with most FX rifles, the ability to customize and fine-tune the setup is a core feature of the Wildcat MK3. Although no doubt of greater benefit for high-performance versions, a drive wheel cycles through seven preset hammerspring positions, and the governor can also be adjusted externally. Further adjustments to adjust the tension of the hammer spring and balance with the regulator are possible by inserting an Allen wrench into a hole on the wheel. The MK3 also benefits from a higher capacity side-shot magazine. Current models also come with FX’s Superior STX barrel liner. The barrel and liner are interchangeable with other calibers, including the Superior STX Heavy Liner for those shooting heavier bullets. At a time when many bullpups had the cocking mechanism awkwardly placed at the rear of the rifle, the Wildcat was designed to bring the side lever closer to the center of the rifle, making pellet cocking and cycling much easier. The design also allowed for a crisp, two-stage trigger pull at a time when many other bullpups felt vague. Best Suited For: While the Wildcat MK3 is extremely accurate and performs well on the range and for target shooting, it is primarily intended for hunters, particularly those working in tight spaces such as hideouts, out of vehicles, and in the Shoot near farm buildings.
FX Crown Unlike most FX rifles with tactical or less conventional designs, as well as black plastic stocks, the Crown is aimed squarely at those who want a more traditional sporting rifle, and is available with a choice of plastic, walnut, or various laminate stocks. FX claims it is “the most advanced and accurate airgun ever created”. There’s no denying the rifle’s capabilities, but several other manufacturers would no doubt dispute the claim. Many of the advancements developed on the FX Impact have been incorporated into the Crown, such as B. the interchangeable barrel and liner system, the externally adjustable regulator and the ability to adjust the hammer tension via a drive wheel. The regulator and 480cc carbon fiber cylinder combine to deliver a massive shot count in 12 ft. lbs. Format delivered via gentle lateral leverage and a capacious magazine that can hold up to 22 .177 caliber pellets. Other features include a two-stage adjustable trigger and a telescopic moderator/mantle. The entry-level Crown VP Edition has a plastic barrel and an aluminum bottle. Best Suited For: Although designed as a traditional sporting rifle, the FX has introduced a range of colorful laminate stock options that are also intended to appeal to target, HFT and FT shooters.
FX Dreamline FX helped define the modular weapon platform concept with the Dreamline. Interchangeable with AR components, the Dreamline is a multi-personality rifle depending on configuration. The Dreamline Classic is a traditional walnut sporting rifle, while the Dreamline Lite is a super light hunting rifle. You can also opt for the Dreamline Bullpup and the Dreamline Tactical. At its core, the Dreamline shares many of the design cues of the Impact, Wildcat, and Crown, namely the FX Smooth Twist X (STX) barrel, whose caliber and liner are interchangeable; externally adjustable regulator as well as valve and hammer tension regulator, adjustable two-stage trigger and high-capacity magazine. As standard, the Dreamline has a 220cc air cylinder that takes a maximum charge of 230 bar, which can be swapped out for a bottle for an increased shot count. Best Suited For: With so many variations thanks to its compatibility with AR components and its sophisticated and proven platform, the Dreamline really is a rifle for almost every need.
FX Impact, Impact X, Impact MK2 Thanks to clever promotion, engineering and design excellence, the FX Impact is one of the most popular 12ft. lbs airguns on the market. Shooters and those with gun licenses or who are lucky enough to live where there are no restraints on power. The highly tactical bullpup design prompted many other companies to make similar rifles. However, FX continues to raise the bar with a seemingly never-ending stream of improvements, overhauls, and modifications. As with other FX rifles, the Smooth Twist X Barrel is interchangeable with different caliber barrels and liners to accommodate bullets. Other features include: externally adjustable hammer tension/drive wheel and governor pressure, an excellent two stage trigger, smooth side lever cocking, massive shot count from the standard 480 cc bottle in 12 ft. lbs. format and a high-capacity side-shot magazine. Options include silver, black or bronze finishes in the bolt area, as well as 500 and 600mm barrels. The Compact model has a smaller 300cc air bottle. The Sniper model has a 700mm barrel and the .35 caliber model has a larger 580cc cylinder and 800mm barrel.
Watch this video on YouTube. Best Suited For: The FX Impact is popular with hunters thanks to its light weight, compact proportions and power options. That means it’s more than capable of shooting at targets and distances.
FX Verminator and Verminator MK2 The Verminator is a small, tactical dismantling rifle that is ideal for use in confined spaces. Based on the FX Royale breech, the current Verminator MK2 features a detachable 400cc air bottle that doubles as a rifle butt. The side lever tension, along with an adjustable trigger, jacketed barrel, high capacity magazine, and three-stage power regulator are capable of high levels of accuracy, making the rifle, as the name suggests, excellent for hunting and suitable for pest control. The Verminator MK2 packs down compactly and fits into an included hard plastic case designed for accessories like a scope. Best Suited For: The Verminator MK2 is a hunting rifle.
FX Royale A sporting style rifle, the Royale 400 is more closely related to the Crown than the rest of its more tactical looking siblings and is available with a walnut, black plastic or black pepper stock. The 400cc air bottle gives the rifle good shot count, especially in the 12 ft. lbs., through the 500mm smooth twist barrel. The side lever is as smooth and reliable as other rifles in the FX series. The two-stage trigger is crisp and accurate, and a three-stage power dial gives you added flexibility, although shooters of the high-powered versions will appreciate this the most. Featuring a larger 500cc air bottle and a 600mm Smooth Twist barrel, the FX Royale 500 is only available in .25 caliber. Best for: The FX Royale is an excellent hunting rifle and excels in HFT/FT competition and on the range.
What is considered the best airgun by FX Airguns?
Like many established and popular brands, the FX range is comprehensive. His rifles are suited to many different shooting disciplines, although it’s fair to say that hunting is the primary focus. Rifles like the Crown and Royale cater to those wanting a more traditional, sporting rifle aesthetic, as does the Dreamline in its classic configuration. Considered by many to be the weapon that set the tactical bullpup benchmark, the Impact is beautifully crafted and an elite performer. Few companies offer a take-down rifle – perhaps the Verminator’s high standard puts them off. And for those who can’t decide, the Dreamline is truly multiple weapons in one, capable of being a sporting weapon, a tactical weapon, a bullpup, or a light stalker. All FX rifles are extremely well designed, engineered and finished.
Which FX airgun is for me?
It really depends on the style that appeals to you and the shots you want to capture. FX does a good job of covering all the bases.
Best FX Airgun Alternatives
With such a diverse offering, FX rivals almost every other manufacturer. Alternatives to the Impact are the Daystate Delta Wolf and the RTI Priest mk2. If you’re thinking of a Crown or Royale, also take a look at the Daystate Wolverine R and Red Wolf, as well as the BSA R10 SE or R10 TH, but don’t rule out air cylinder pistols like the Air Arms Ultimate Sporter or Weihrauch HW100.
Best pellets for FX airguns
FX markets its own pellets, but their rifles shoot well with most well-known quality brands. Larger .30 and .35 calibers have fewer options but seem to fit the JSB lineup.
Parts and spares for FX airguns
FX itself is a good source for parts and spares, as is its UK distributor, Sportsman Gun Centre. There’s no shortage of specialist tuners either, including The Rat Works and Air-Fective Tuning.
FX airgun serial numbers
Contact FX Airguns if you have questions about your rifle’s serial number.
FX antique air guns
FX was only founded in 1999, so probably not old enough to have any antique models. That said, early models are collectible.

Airgun Safety
“RULE” NUMBER ONE: AIR FORCES ARE NOT TOYS. TREAT AIRGUNS WITH THE SAME RESPECT AS ANY DANGEROUS WEAPON OR FIREARM.
In the wrong hands, an airgun can cause serious injury or even death. Some irresponsible users have given airgunners a bad name by damaging property, shooting pets and protected wildlife, and even shooting people for “fun”.
You can help change that perception by using your airgun in a way that shows that airgunners are essentially responsible people who don’t threaten anyone. By following the common sense rules below, you can significantly reduce the risk of an accident.
There are some simple steps people can take to ensure their airgun is stored safely and used safely. For example:
Never handle or operate an airgun that you are unfamiliar with its operation and functions. Read the manual first, or if it is not your responsibility, ask the airgun owner to instruct you on safe operation.
Never allow a child under the age of 18 to handle or operate an air pistol without direct adult supervision.
Always treat an airgun as if it were loaded.
Do not assume that an airgun is unloaded and safe before handling. Check every airgun you handle for yourself.
Always point an airgun in a safe direction, preferably at the ground and never at another person.
Never load an airgun until you are ready to fire it.
Never rely on any safety mechanism to make an airgun safe. Such devices can fail.
If you are on a shooting range, always pay attention to the range rules and the instructions of the Range Officer (RO).
Never fire an airgun unless you are sure the shot is safe. This means checking that there is nothing or no one around that could be endangered by the shot and ensuring that an appropriate backstop or backstop is in place to avoid ricochets. Consider that the extreme range for a standard 4.5mm airgun pellet fired at 16 joules / 12 foot-pounds of energy can be up to 400m.
Consider wearing ballistic rated/shooting goggles to protect your eyes from ricocheting bullet fragments.
Never put down a loaded airgun. Always safely unload or unload and relax first.
Never store a loaded airgun.
Avoid alcohol or drugs before and while handling airguns.
Avoid climbing over fences or other obstacles with a loaded airgun.
Airguns should be stored out of sight and separate from pellets.
Air guns should be covered during transport, e.g. B. be transported in a gun case.
Air guns must not be stored where unauthorized persons, especially young people under the age of 18, could gain access to them. For example, use a lockable cupboard and keep the keys safe. Airguns should be stored indoors and not in an outbuilding like a garage, shed, or Wendy House.
Consider how to incapacitate a stored airgun. For example a trigger lock.
handling high pressure air
Respect the energy contained in a scuba tank.
Check the test data of the scuba tanks.
Periodically inspect all visible o-rings on your airgun cylinder, quick fill probes, and fill station.
Inspect the gas station pressure gauge for damage before each use.
Use the Airgun Pressure Gauge as a dual pressure check.
Fill your airgun cylinder slowly.
Never inflate beyond the recommended inflation pressure of your airgun cylinder.
Never look directly at a pressure gauge. Observe at an angle away from body parts.
Make sure the filling equipment is free of dirt. Dirt in airgun cylinders slowly causes the valves to leak.
Warn children about the dangers of compressed air and keep your scuba tank out of their reach.
Store scuba tanks upright. If a valve bursts in the event of a fire, the drive will be up and down, hopefully not sideways through a bedroom wall. Store your bottle out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
When transporting a scuba tank in the car, store it sideways/horizontally and secure it in place.
Your cylinder should only be filled with clean, dry compressed air from an accredited supplier.
Do not use oil or grease near compressed air. Oil and fat can ignite under pressure. Use pure silicone grease sparingly on o-rings as supplied by dive shops.
Never hold any part of your body near a compressed air outlet. Air released under such great pressure can penetrate the skin and cause a severe air embolism, in which air enters the flesh and cardiovascular system.
If you wish to depressurize a scuba tank for air transport or for any other reason, do so very slowly, preferably overnight, by slightly opening the column valve. Decompression too quickly will cause water condensation in the cylinder, which can lead to premature rusting.
Avoid using “home made” parts, components and fittings on your filling station and cylinders.
What can I use my airgun for?
If you have never shot before, you are well advised to go to a rifle club with an air rifle section and learn from a club representative how to use your air rifle safely and responsibly and how to become an accurate marksman. Information on where to find such clubs can be found here.
After purchasing your airgun, you can use it for a number of purposes including target shooting, plinking, pest control and small game hunting.
You may find that target shooting provides all the challenges you need, or you may want to move on to hunting. If you intend to hunt, you must be careful to only do so on private property for which you have a written shooting permit, a valid hunting permit and/or a license including a permit to use an airgun for hunting ( some provinces restrict their use for this purpose). They must also adhere to the statutory game species lists, their open hunting seasons and catch limits, which are published annually.
Plinking at targets like old tin cans or spinner targets can be useful for teaching children marksmanship and safety in a fun way. However, it should be remembered that if you live in a built-up suburb, it is illegal to shoot airguns in your yard. You can shoot your airgun on your property if you live in a rural area with no direct neighbors. However, all security procedures must be followed and all offenses listed in the FCA will still apply.

Which gun is best for self Defence in South Africa?
“Some popular self-defence pistols and revolvers are the Glock, CZ75, Heckler & Koch, Browning, Taurus, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Colt,” Welch said.
Fx Impact M3 Price South Africa
Welch said SAGA saw a large surge in membership following the violence and looting in July.
“Recent events in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng have been a wake-up call to those who believed the police are there to protect them,” Welch said.
Additionally, the re-emergence of the government’s controversial firearms amendment bill, which proposes to eliminate self-defense as a valid reason for owning a firearm, has caused an uproar.
“Many firearm owners who believed that nothing could ever go wrong in South Africa have realized that the government may take more action against gun owners,” Welch said.
Current gun control law dictates that those wishing to own a firearm for self-defense have the choice of a non-auto shotgun or a non-auto handgun.
In exceptional cases, civilians can also apply for a restricted firearm such as a semi-automatic rifle or shotgun, but this is mostly limited to farmers or security guards.
When it comes to the most popular guns, Welch said that many people used to buy small snub-nosed revolvers.
Recently, semi-automatic pistols have generally become very reliable, and it was SAGA’s impression that most people were buying them.
“Some popular self-defense pistols and revolvers include the Glock, CZ75, Heckler & Koch, Browning, Taurus, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Colt,” Welch said.
When considering a firearm for self-defense, Welch said three important principles should be considered – reliability, ease of use, and accuracy.
He said some people chose to have a heavy caliber and large firearm that would be kept in the safe more often than readily available.
“The best possible firearm is useless if it’s resting securely in your safe,” Welch warned.
“Since no one can predict when unlawful and violent attacks may occur, your defensive firearm must be within reach of you at all times.”
In terms of calibres, the trend was towards the 9 mm Parabellum/Luger cartridge.
Most pistols of this caliber have large-capacity magazines, making them more uncomfortable to carry.
“Since more than 2 or 3 shots are rarely fired in self-defense, a large-capacity magazine is not essential,” he said.
“Rather, I would recommend a single-column magazine with 7 to 10 rounds of ammunition.”
He stressed that most modern calibers, even smaller ones, can kill a human.
However, the purpose of a self-defense weapon was not to kill an attacker, but to stop them.
Welch recommends getting advice from an expert on the best firearm for your needs, based on where you intend to carry the gun and whether you intend to carry it with you.
“If you intend to leave it in your safe and only use it for home defense, size and caliber don’t matter.”
The vital factor was that you become familiar with your weapon, Welch recommended.
“The more you practice, the easier it becomes to master the trigger, shoot accurately, and get used to the recoil,” he said.
“Sometimes you have to eliminate a disruption; Better to learn this at the shooting range than with bullets coming your way.”
Welch highlighted the following five pistols as popular choices for self-defense.
CZ 75 B Omega – R16,000
Glock 42 Slimline – R10,400
Taurus G2C — R7.600
Ruger 9mm LCP Pistol – R9.500
Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Core – R19,350

Why it is our first choice
Gamo PT-85 emerged as the best CO2 pellet pistol out of the list of 34 airguns we examined. This air pistol has everything you could want in one:
Realistic – it looks just like a real gun
Great shooting performance
Robust build quality
Most importantly – Gamo is a renowned high-end brand whose pistols have proven themselves in practice for years. And while the PT-85 isn’t the cheapest air pistol on the market, we think the price is worth the performance.
Let’s take a closer look
Gamo PT-85 looks so real that it could easily be mistaken for a real gun. This means you can use it in self defense to deter your attacker.
Side note: This should go without saying, but don’t carry realistic air pistols outdoors as people will think you’re carrying a real gun.
While not a direct replica, from a distance the pistol looks just like the Beretta PX4 Storm. Not all parts are metal, but the plastic is strong enough and looks nice.
The semi-automatic pistol runs on CO2 and fires standard .177 caliber bullets. The pellets are housed in a 16-round double-sided magazine. After you’ve shot 8 rounds, eject, flip, and reinsert to use the other 8 pellets.
The Gamo PT-85’s blowback action simulates the recoil of a real gun when fired, providing a more realistic shooting experience. It comes with fixed reflective white dot sights to help you aim.
Things to watch out for
While the Gamo PT-85 is the most powerful CO2 pistol on our list, note that its high 450 FPS rating was achieved using platinum pellets. If you’re shooting regular pellets, expect your FPS to be a bit lower.
Overall, the pistol is neither powerful nor accurate enough to be used for pest control or professional target shooting. But that’s more the territory of break-barrel pistols – no CO2 pistol can do that for you.
bottom line
Gamo PT-85 is our top pick for an “all-rounder” air pistol that can do it all. Whether you need it for plinking in the garden or teaching your kids how to use a gun, the Gamo PT-85 is objectively one of the best pellet guns on the market.
The Gamo PT-85 also took first place in the Best Self-Defense Air Gun category due to its realistic looks, as it allows you to deter a potential unarmed attacker when it counts.
Similar models: Gamo P-25 is a version of Gamo PT-85 without the tactical rail under the barrel.

Why it’s our number 2
There’s just something about the classic Glock 19 design that almost everyone can recognize. After all, it is the most popular weapon in the US.
While it doesn’t quite match the aforementioned Gamo PT-85 in terms of specs – this pistol only shoots BBs and no pellets – the Glock 19 Gen 3 is by far one of the best and most realistic looking air pistols we’ve seen.
It’s the best BB gun on our list and a great choice if you’re looking for a simple, reliable, and affordable BB gun.
Let’s take a closer look
As the name suggests, this Glock 19 Gen 3 is an officially licensed BB replica of America’s favorite sidearm, manufactured by Umarex.
The construction is based on the original Glock design – the slide, trigger, magazine, magazine release are made of metal, while the lower part of the pistol is made of plastic. Although the pistol does not come with a blowback function, the simple design gives it better durability as there are fewer parts to break.
In terms of performance, Glock 19 is a winner. The powerful BB pistol averages around 390-400 FPS in real-world conditions – that’s around 50-100 FPS more than other pistols at this price point. Slightly higher velocity aside, this is your standard .177 caliber CO2-powered BB air pistol with decent CO2 efficiency. They shoot about 3 magazines of BBs per CO2 canister.
Oh, and if you need a quiet air pistol, look no further. Glock 19 sounds like a clap when picked up, making it ideal for apartments and other less noisy places. The great thing about the 16-round metal universal stick magazine is that it fits a variety of air pistols. After all, the sights are not adjustable like on most pistols in this price range.
Things to watch out for
The double-action trigger is on the heavy side, meaning you may need to pull harder to fire. This pistol does not have a blowback function, resulting in a less realistic shooting experience. But it also means the pistol is more CO2 efficient – you’ll fire more shots before your CO2 canister runs out.
bottom line
While there are more “advanced” BB guns out there, they also cost more $. Glock 19 Gen 3 gives you decent performance without breaking the bank. If you want a “fun” gun to frolic in your yard without spending too much money, give this a try.
Similar Models: Umarex TDP45 is another air pistol from Umarex that costs about the same and is similar to the Glock 19 in specs and construction.
3. Benjamin Marauder – Most Powerful and Accurate Pellet Air Gun (.22 Pellet, PCP, Hand Pump)

Why it’s our number 3
power baby! Benjamin Marauder is one of the strongest and most powerful air pistols in the world – and it’s the best .22 pellet pistol on our list. This is a powerful PCP pellet gun designed for target shooting and pest control (like rats and squirrels).
CO2-powered air pistols shoot like toys alongside Marauders based on power and accuracy.
Let’s take a closer look
The Benjamin Marauder PCP pistol is big and the stock that comes with it makes it even bigger. It’s somewhere between a rifle and a pistol in size. It fits in your backpack – but not in your holster.
The firing mechanism is as powerful as it gets – PCP-Powered Bolt Action. There is a gas chamber in the gun that will give you about 30 good shots before you need to refill it. You can refill the gas chamber with:
Side note: with a regular hand pump, the chamber takes a few minutes and about 40 pumps to refill)
The Marauder pistol fires larger .22 caliber pellets and is rated for a maximum of 700 FPS. It is the highest fps pellet gun on the list. Actual performance will vary from 500 to 700 FPS depending on the type of pellets used.
While you can’t call a .22 bullet “Big Bore,” firing at 700 FPS is some serious power – enough to kill vermin and even smaller critters at close range. And it’s about as close as you can get to hitting that magical 1000 FPS with a pellet gun.
Adjustable sights and a long barrel make Marauder the most accurate ball pistol on our list—and one of the best air pistols for target shooting.
What we love most about the Marauder is its revolver-style 8-round magazine, as these types of pistols are usually single-loaded. There’s an internal noise-dampening shroud – but the gun is still too loud to be called garden-friendly.
Finally – there are many aftermarket parts for Marauders – you can turn it into a carbine, silence it, etc.
Things to watch out for
The supplied material is cheap and can come loose. Most people replace the factory stock with an aftermarket one.
If you don’t have a pump at home, you’ll need to get one to refill the gas chamber. The official Benjamin pump doesn’t come cheap, but you have budget options too.
Benjamin Marauder is also as close as it can get to being the best shotgun for hunting, but…it just isn’t powerful enough. You need an airgun to hunt properly. It’s a good airgun for killing vermin like rats and squirrels, but to kill anything bigger you’ll need a bigger airgun.
bottom line
Benjamin Marauder is by far the best PCP air pistol/pistol you can get at this price point. It’s the most accurate and powerful bullet gun you can find. It’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
4. Benjamin Trail NP – Best/Powerful Break Barrel Air Pistol
Click here for the latest price
Buy at AirGunDepot
The Benjamin NP Trail is like a poor man’s bum – performance on a budget. It doesn’t cost as much, but still packs more punch than a CO2 pistol.
Let’s take a closer look
Benjamin Trail is a powerful, break-barrel, single-load pellet air pistol. That means two things:
You can only fire one bullet at a time
You must cock the pistol after each shot
(Fortunately, the pistol cocks easily.)
Benjamin Trail shoots .177 caliber pellets at a maximum of 625 FPS. In real-world conditions, you should expect between 500 and 600 FPS – good enough for pest control, but I wouldn’t shoot animals with it.
Performance aside, the Benjamin Trail’s main advantages over CO2 pistols are adjustable rear sights – you won’t see that on most air pistols.
Things to watch out for
The rear sight can lose its zero point at close range due to a design flaw – the elevation thumbscrew loosens easily when at maximum. It’s nothing that can’t be fixed with a cheap red dot sight. You also have to get used to the heavy trigger.
bottom line
The great thing about Benjamin Trail is that you only have to cock it once for each shot. The closest competitors – Crosman P1322 and P1377 below – require 10 pumps to fire at full power.
Probably the cheapest pest control gun on the market – it’s your best bet for performance and accuracy under $100.
5. Crosman Vigilante – Most Powerful Revolver Pistol (BB & Pellet, CO2)
Click here for the latest price
Buy at AirGunDepot
Introducing the Crosman Vigilante – one of the biggest and baddest looking air pistols around. The best selling air revolver on the market. need i say more
Let’s take a closer look
Despite the plastic construction, Vigilante looks like a tactical revolver. People will mistake it for a real gun in public. (The only metal areas are the trigger, cocking mechanism, and lower receiver area.)
Crosman Vigilante shoots both .177 pellets and BBs, making it one of the most versatile air pistols on the list. The magazine holds either 10 pellets or 6 BBs. A CO2 canister lasts about 80 rounds, which is more than any semi-automatic pistol will give you.
It is rated at 435 max FPS. When shooting lead bullets, you can expect around 390-410 FPS consistently, which is solid performance for an airgun in this price range. When you shoot, the full-action hammer gives you a more realistic shooting experience.
Things to watch out for
Crosman Vigilante shoots loud – louder than the average CO2 pistol. Accuracy could be better – the barrel is not rifled so shooting pellets will be inaccurate no matter what you do. The full-action hammer also makes the trigger stiff, which in turn makes the gun harder to aim.
The sights that the pistol comes with are adjustable, but they don’t always aim correctly. Consider getting a red dot sight for it.
bottom line
Crosman Vigilante is the best revolver money can buy. Sure, it’s not the most accurate air pistol out there… but man – shooting this huge, loud-banging revolver is just too much fun.
6. Crosman SNR357 – Best Small Revolver (BB & Pellet, CO2)
Click here for the latest price
Buy at AirGunDepot
While the Crosman Vigilante is great on top, it’s also on the big side and won’t fit in your pocket. If you need a pellet revolver that you can actually carry around – say hello to the Crosman SNR357 – one of the smallest BB/pellet pistols on the market.
Let’s take a closer look
The all-metal construction is the first thing you’ll notice about the SNR357. This gun looks and feels like a real snub-nosed revolver – both at a distance and up close. It’s your own Saturday Night Special.
Side note: there are no markings on the body to indicate that this is an air pistol. Be careful when wearing this in public.
Like the Vigilante above, the SNR357 revolver shoots both .177 pellets and BBs. The magazine can hold either 6 BBs or 6 pellets. It is rated for 350 FPS and shoots around 300 FPS in real environments with pellets. It’s less powerful than other air pistols…but hey – this banger is so small you’ll have to sacrifice something.
You get around 70 shots per CO2 canister before accuracy and performance start to drop.
Due to its realistic all-metal construction, the Crosman SNR357 is a popular choice for home defense. It just looks like a real gun.
Side note: we don’t recommend that you rely on an air pistol for home defense, but if you do, do your best to ensure your intruder isn’t carrying an actual firearm.
Things to watch out for
The barrel is short and non-rifled, so don’t expect extreme accuracy with either pellets or BBs.
Like all pellet revolvers, the Crosman SNR357 will be noisier than the average air pistol due to its smaller size.
bottom line
SNR357 is a great little pellet/BB revolver with realistic all-metal construction and reliable performance. It’s also the smallest air pistol on the market. The lower accuracy is the only real downside here, but that’s the cost of keeping things small.
7. Crosman P1322 – Best Multi-Stroke / Pump Air Gun (.22 Pellet)
Click here for the latest price
Buy at AirGunDepot
Another sniper on the list – Crosman P1322 is the Benjamin Trail NP’s closest competitor when it comes to performance and accuracy. But remember – you have to pump this one.
Let’s take a closer look
Crosman P1322 looks like a real air pistol. Despite its size, the weapon is lightweight thanks to its mostly plastic construction. It comes with adjustable sights and is more accurate than any CO2 pistol. It’s fairly quiet – quieter than the CO2 revolvers above.
P1322 shoots .22 caliber pellets. They give you more kick than the .177 bullets, but they are also heavier and slower. The gun consistently fires at over 400 FPS with a maximum rated output of 460 FPS. It’s strong enough to shatter thick plastic bottles and shoot through quilts.
Also Pest Control – P1322 is reported to kill a rat about 10 feet away with 5 pumps.
As a multi-stroke/pump pistol, you must inflate the gun by hand for each shot. You can pump between 3 and 10 times – more pumps = more power. It is single loading and needs to be reloaded after each shot. (Watch the video below for a demo)
Crosman P1322 has many aftermarket parts and accessories available. You can get stocks, sights, longer barrels, receivers for it… limitless possibilities.
Side note: Crosman P1377 is the .177 caliber model of Crosman P1377. It has a higher FPS rating, but the smaller .177 pellets have less stopping power than P1322.
Things to watch out for
This pistol is a muscle trainer. The pistol is difficult to pump from about the 7th hit. The 10th shot is extremely hard.
It is difficult to make the right adjustment on the rear sight. The trigger is also stiff and takes some getting used to.
bottom line
No other pistol in this price range comes close to the Crosman P1322 for accuracy and performance. It’s the cheapest high-powered pistol you can get for target shooting and pest control around the house (rats, squirrels).
8. Crosman PSM45 – Best Spring Air Pistol (BB, the quietest)
Click here for the latest price
Buy at AirGunDepot
Simplicity is underestimated. At least in the world of air pistols.
Crosman PSM45 is the best spring action air pistol you can get. The simplest and most reliable design on the market, this gun requires no CO2 or pumping to get the job done.
Let’s take a closer look
The construction is mostly plastic, but you have a metal slide and metal clip that adds weight to the gun. Most importantly – it looks real and can be mistaken for a real pistol.
Spring action means you have to cock the pistol after each shot. But you can always rely on it – unlike CO2 pistols, this one never runs out of power. And since it has a 20 BBs magazine, you can get a decent rate of fire once you get used to cocking the gun with your second hand.
With an FPS rating of 190, the PSM45 is not particularly powerful compared to other air pistols, despite being one of the most powerful spring-loaded pistols out there. It’s about strong enough to penetrate a layer of cardboard at close range. This cracker won’t break through an aluminum can – so forget killing rats with it.
On the plus side, the Crosman PSM45 is the quietest airgun on our list because it’s less powerful than other, more “serious” airguns on the list. This makes it perfect for plinking in apartments and other places where you can’t make as much noise.
Things to watch out for
The sights that the pistol comes with are not adjustable. It is only accurate to a distance of 30-40 feet. The gun may need to be lubricated with motor/gun oil to prevent jamming. This can happen sooner or later depending on how well they were lubricated at the factory.
bottom line
PSM45 is a decent, well-built plinking pistol at a great price. We think you shouldn’t pay more than $30 for a spring-loaded pistol – and this one ticks all the boxes. If you don’t want to mess around with CO2 canisters, this is the gun for you.
9. Daisy Powerline 340 – Cheapest Air Pistol (BB)

Daisy Powerline 340 is THE cheapest air gun you can get. It costs around $10 on Amazon. But what can this money do for you? Is it worth the price?
Let’s take a closer look
One thing I would like to give about Powerline 340 is that despite the low price, it looks real enough to be mistaken for a real gun. At least from afar. But you get the bare minimum when it comes to features.
It is a .177 caliber, spring-loaded, single-shot BB pistol that has a maximum FPS rating of 240. Expect her to fire in the 200 FPS range – which is enough to shatter a cardboard box at close range.
The gun comes with a quick-loading clip consisting of a 13-round magazine and a 200-round BB reservoir. To reload, pull out the magazine, shake the pistol, and push it back in.
Things to watch out for
Don’t expect accuracy at this price point. The reloading system looks good at first glance, but the magazine doesn’t always fully load. You never know how many BBs have gone in. Quality problems are more common than with other pistols:
misfires
loading problems
accuracy issues
jamming
Slide gets stuck
etc.
bottom line
It’s hard to call the Daisy 340 a true air pistol. It’s more of a dollar store toy. This pistol is not worth its money because the risk of getting a defective product is too high. We recommend the PSM45 above for a spring action air pistol instead.
It’s worth noting that it’s not the best Daisy BB gun, but after reviewing the other models we think there are better options from Umarex / Gamo and other manufacturers.
10. Umarex Beretta PX4 Storm – Best CO2 pistol for BBs and pellets
Click here for the latest price
Buy at AirGunDepot
Umarex Beretta is the best semi-automatic air pistol that can fire both BBs and pellets. It’s similar in specs to our #1 Gamo PT-85 – but with slightly lower FPS and more frequent quality issues.
Let’s take a closer look
This is the certified replica of the Beretta PX4 Storm by Umarex. It looks and feels just like the real gun – they make these as close to the real thing as possible. The pistol is mostly metal but has some plastic parts here and there – just like a real firearm.
It is a CO2 pistol that fires both .177 pellets and BBs. You will need about one CO2 canister for every two magazines. Like Gamo, it comes with a 2×8-round double-sided magazine. When you’ve shot through 8 rounds, flip the magazine over and have your other 8.
You can consistently hit around 350 FPS, which is decent but not as good as our top picks. There is a blowback action that makes recoil shooting more realistic. Finally, the accessory rail under the barrel allows you to attach a flashlight or laser sight.
Things to watch out for
The sights cannot be adjusted and quality problems are more common than with Gamo.
bottom line
Umarex Beretta PX4 Storm is the best air pistol if you want to shoot both BBs and pellets – without having to get a revolver.
11. Umarex Colt 1911 Commander – The most realistic and quietest CO2 BB air pistol

We didn’t include the Umarex Colt 1911 Commander for its accuracy or FPS. In fact, it doesn’t fare as well as other air pistols on our list.
no Colt Commander made our list because it is one of the best and best looking BB guns out there. It’s the best 1-to-1 replica air pistol on our list.
Let’s take a closer look
Commander is a solid all-metal air pistol modeled after the legendary Colt 1911. It looks just like the real thing – you won’t be able to tell them apart. Grips are the only plastic parts on this pistol, but you can easily swap them out for better ones.
It’s a CO2 pistol that only shoots BBs. A CO2 tank is enough for about 3 magazines – 18 rounds per magazine. Accuracy starts to drop after around 22 shots – which is average for CO2 pistols. Colt Commander is a relatively accurate weapon compared to other air pistols. It comes with adjustable sights and is accurate up to 30 feet or so.
Commander is designed for a maximum of 325 FPS, which is not much for an air pistol in this price range. We’d like to see more power, but you have to keep in mind that the blowback action uses more CO2 on a big gun like this. On the other hand, the low FPS make this cold the quietest CO2 BB air gun on our list.
bottom line
While it gets a 10/10 in the optics department, we’d expect better performance from the Colt Commander at its price point. However, if you want a realistic looking 1911 air pistol, you can hardly go wrong with this one.
12. Umarex Colt Army 45 – Best Realistic Revolver
Click here for the latest price
Buy at AirGunDepot
Riding the wave of realism. Like the Commander above, the Umarex Colt Army 45 is an extremely realistic replica of a real Colt Peacemaker revolver. It’s one of the most realistic air revolvers we’ve seen.
Let’s take a closer look
Army 45 comes with full metal construction. The grip is the only plastic part of this gun. It looks and works like the original. The 6-shot cylinder also loads like the Peacemaker – instead of swinging out, you load it through the loading flap to the right of the cylinder.
And people will mistake this for a real gun, so be prepared.
It shoots .177 pellets and has a rifled barrel. You can turn it into a double bullet/BB pistol as BB cartridges are available for this model.
Which is why we did extra research – and included the actual FPS performance of these pistols in reviews and the comparison table.
At the end of the day, there is little difference between a 350 FPS pistol and a 500 FPS pistol. Because having a high FPS only matters if you’re shooting over long distances.
And the CO2 pistol is simply not accurate enough to shoot over long distances – whether target practice or pest control.
Blowback Action On CO2 Pistols
Blowback action adds realism to the CO2 BB guns, simulating the recoil of a real handgun and allowing for a true single action trigger operation.
Many CO2 pistols even lock the slide back on the last shot so that you know that you’re out of ammo. So you can practice your magazine drops and reloading.
The downside of blowback action is that it uses a bit more CO2 to operate the slide of your air pistol. You’re losing out on 50 or so FPS in power with blowback action, but we believe that the realism you’re getting is well worth it.
With blowback action, you’ll get:
A better, more realistic shooting experience
Slightly lower FPS (-50 or so)
Air Pistol Brands
Good air pistol brands are:
Benjamin
RWS
UMAREX
incense
Feinwerkbau
Gamo
Most replicas are made by Umarex. If you ever see an air pistol being sold as Sig Sauer, Beretta, Colt, S&W, etc. – there’s a good chance that it’s made by Umarex.
Optional Reading: Using Air Pistols For Self Defense When it comes to self-defense, nothing can beat a real firearm. The thing is, you don’t always have access to real firearms. Maybe you can’t obtain a gun legally. And even if you can, there are the gun-free zones where you can’t take it – government buildings, schools, etc. In situations where don’t have access to a real firearm, getting an air pistol is the best thing you can do. Here’s why: A realistic-looking air pistol has about 92% chance of stopping your attacker. Klingt zu gut um wahr zu sein? Not according to research. Here’s what criminologists Kleck and Gertz found out in their study on armed resistance to crime. There are about 2.5 million armed self-defense incidents in the U.S. per year. In less than 8% of these cases would the armed citizen actually kill or wound his/her attacker. Most of them ended with attackers getting scared off – either through brandishing the firearm or firing warning shots. What this means is – An air / gas pistol is enough for most self-defense situations that you’ll come across. As long as your attacker thinks it’s real. Here are 3 rules to help you choose an air pistol for self-defense. Rule #1: It Must Look Real The more realistic your air pistol looks, the better. If it looks like a toy – even remotely – forget about using it for self-defense. Rule #2: Use A High-FPS Pellet Pistol In the 8% chance that you don’t manage to scare off your attacker, you’re going to want something that can hurt your attacker. You’re going to want an air pistol that: Shoots pellets
With a minimum of 400FPS Pellets rip through clothing and cause serious pain, especially from a short distance. Depending on the thickness of clothing, they might even penetrate through the skin. Of course – this is assuming that your attacker doesn’t have a firearm. If he does, there is nothing you can do. Rule #3: Reliability If you’re getting an air pistol for self-defense, make sure that it’s reliable. Any decent, reliable air pistol is going to cost you about $80 – $100. You can get cheaper air pistols, but we don’t recommend them as they’re unreliable and have more plastic in the construction. ↑ Take Me Back To The Top ↑
Frequently asked Questions:
What Is The Best Air Pistol For Self Defense?
The best air pistol for self defense is a pistol that:
Looks like a real gun Shoots pellets Has a reasonably high FPS rating.
We recommend using Gamo PT-85 that took #1 on our list, but any quality replica air pistol will do as long as it looks real.
Important: Using an air pistol for self defense only works against unarmed attackers. If you pull out a realistic-looking air pistol against an armed attacker, you are putting your life in danger.
Pellet Pistols vs. BB Pistols: Which Are More Powerful?
Pellet pistols are more powerful and more accurate than BB pistols. The downside is that pellets (and pellet guns) cost more than BBs (and BB guns), and also take more time to load into the magazine. Go for pellets pistols if you need power & accuracy, and go for BBs for easy backyard plinking.
How Many Shots Can You Get Out Of A CO2 Cartridge?
One CO2 cartridge will give you 50-80 shots depending on the construction of your particular air pistol model. Air revolvers are more CO2-efficient, while air pistols with blowback action spend more CO2 per shot (but give you a more realistic shooting experience).
Can A BB Or A Pellet Gun Kill You?
Under normal circumstances, a BB or a pellet gun is not powerful enough to kill a human. But everything depends on the circumstances – how far you are from the gun, how powerful your gun is, etc. While they can’t kill, air guns can most certainly make someone lose their vision if the shot hits the eye. They are not toys, and you should treat an air gun like you would an ordinary handgun. Especially with kids in the house.
If you’re worried about safety, we recommend going for a less powerful air gun, and always wearing protective eyewear while shooting. Even the weakest BB gun can cause serious damage to eyes if you get a direct hit.
What Are BB Guns Used For?
BB and pellet guns are usually used for the following activities:
Plinking (shooting cans & targets)
Target shooting
Firearms handling training
Pest control
Self- and home-defense (against unarmed attackers)
Hunting (only powerful air rifles)
Will A Pellet Gun Stop An Intruder?
Yes, a pellet gun will most probably stop an intruder – studies (referenced above) have shown a 92% chance of scaring off an attacker when using a realistic-looking air gun. We only recommend using air guns against unarmed attackers. If you have reason to believe that your intruder is armed, it’s best not to put your life in danger by threatening him with an air gun.
Are Air Pistols Legal? (Pellet & BB)
Air pistols are legal in most of the U.S. states, but some states have extra rules and regulations. More specifically, you should look at your local laws if you live in:
NY & its boroughs
Philly, PA
Washington, D.C
Chicago
New Jersey
Even if you don’t live in one of those states, your local legislation might change in the future, so make sure to look up your state’s airgun laws before making a purchase.
Do Air Guns Make Noise?
Yes, air guns make noise when shooting. Usual CO2 pistols are not terribly loud when shooting, and you should be fine unless you live in an apartment with thin walls. Even then, you can choose to go for one of the weaker FPS air pistols, as less power = less noise. For example, a spring-powered air pistol will be quiet enough for an apartment.
Competitors That Didn’t Make It
Out of the total 34 air pistols that we reviewed, only 12 made it into the list. Here is a list of competitors with their specs – and the reasons for why we didn’t include them.
Crosman 2240. 460 FPS, Pellet, CO2, 0.22 Cal., Magazine – Single Load. While 2240 is a solid pellet pistol, it is bolt loading which means that you can only fire one pellet at a time. And Crosman P1377 or Benjamin Trail NP are both better single loading choices at this price point.
Sig Sauer P226. 450 FPS, Pellet, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 16. Sig Sauer P226 is made for training muscle memory for police and military personnel. The pistol looks extremely realistic but has major accuracy issues which make it a bad deal at the high price point.
Sig Sauer P320. 430 FPS, BB & Pellet, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 30. Unfortunately, Sig P320’s 30-round rotary magazine is so poorly made that you’ll have a hard time firing off all the BBs without the magazine jamming. Combined with Sig’s high price point, this one’s a pass. You can get a realistic-looking air pistol from Gamo or Umarex instead.
Beeman P17. 410 FPS, Pellet, Single Stroke, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – Single Load. Beeman P17 is a single stroke, single load pellet pistol that comes with a cheap red sight dot attached. But with single load pistols, you’ll get better quality from established brands, Crosman or Benjamin.
Beeman Sportsman Series Deluxe. 410 FPS, Pellet, Single Stroke, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – Single Load. Another of Beeman’s single load pistols – same as above.
Winchester Model 11K. 410 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 16. Winchester 11K retails for about the same price as Sig Sauer but is made cheaper and has quality issues with magazines falling out etc.
Daisy 5172 Power Line. 400 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 21. Daisy 5172 Power Line looks good on the paper, but it doesn’t live up to its advertised FPS rate. We didn’t like the odd design, either.
Daisy Unisex Powerline 415. 400 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 21. Daisy 415 is an alright BB pistol, but it loses to Crosman and Umarex in build quality and reliability.
Crosman 40001 1911. 400 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 20. The magazine has issues with BBs falling out when it is removed. The construction is full-plastic. You’ll get more value for your money with one of our Umarex picks above.
Crosman C11 Semi-Auto. 400 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 18. C11 Looks good on paper, but defects are common – the magazine not staying in place, the handle sliding etc. … Crosman usually makes quality, but this pistol is not up to par with the rest.
Umarex Colt 6″ Python. 400 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 10. Umarex Colt 6″ Python is a fantastic-looking revolver, but it can only shoot BBS and not pellets. You can get a better deal with one of the revolvers included in the list – they shoot both pellets and BBs.
Umarex Legends Luger. 400 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 21. Unless you want a replica of a WW II German pistol, this one’s a pass.
Umarex Brodax. 375 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 10. Another decent revolver from Umarex, but since it can shoot BBs only we prefer Crosman’s Vigilante.
Umarex Legends M712. 350 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 18. Unless you want a replica of a WW II German pistol, this one’s a pass.
Remington 1911RAC. 320 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 18. Remington’s 1911 replica is decent, but considering its high price you can get a better deal with Colt or Beretta if you want a replica. If you want performance, Gamo and Benjamin beat this one out any day.
Smith & Wesson M&P 40. 310 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 15. A decent blowback BB pistol that unfortunately has CO2 and magazine quality issues.
Umarex Beretta M92. 310 FPS, BB, CO2, 0.177 Cal., Magazine – 19. We liked the other Beretta replica better. This pistol doesn’t load pellets, while the other one does. All in all, it’s not worth the money.
Beretta M92. 260 FPS, BB, Spring, 0.22 Cal., Magazine – 12. The BBs fall out of the barrel if you hold the pistol downward while it’s loaded. The magazine is also sensitive.
The last word
While researching, we noticed a massive lack of information on the topic of air pistols.
More specifically:
How to choose & what to look for
What the best air pistol models are on the market
Whether the most powerful ones are necessarily the best ones
Whether you can use it for self-defense
And the BB vs. Pellet pistol dilemma
All we could find were:
A couple of TOP 10 lists that don’t explain why their air pistol picks are the best
Videos on Youtube are mostly reviews of single guns or explanatory videos like the one that I linked to about using an air pistol for self-defense
We hope this guide helped you choose the right air pistol for you.
Have you used any of the pistols we listed above?
Or do you think that а particular pistol should be added to the guide?

Equipped with the FX Smooth Twist X Barrel, FX Airguns have created what is arguably the greatest innovation in airgun barrels since the introduction of twist. The FX Smooth Twist X barrel is essentially a smoothbore barrel for most of the barrel, it’s only rifled for a small part of the barrel just before the pellet leaves the muzzle. This results in minimal friction as the pellet travels down the barrel and higher ballistic coefficients. This means less interference from wind speed when the pellet gets to the target, resulting in more accurate and consistent shots. Adjustable Regulator The Impact X features an internal regulator with an external adjuster. This allows the shooter to fine-tune the rifle for either maximum power or maximum rounds, and allows the shooter to adjust the regulator when he or she changes barrels and calibers. The Impact X differs from other regulated firearms in that it features separate pressure gauges for the main air hose and regulator, allowing the shooter to easily and precisely adjust regulator pressure. Knowing how to set the controller is imperative. Adjusting the regulator down while there is air/pressure in the regulator will ruin your regulator. Also, if you adjust your regulator too far in or out, the o-rings will burn out. If in doubt, do some research before using this feature. One of the biggest challenges in airgunning today is deciding where to focus your time and effort. Rifles are very accurate and are great for honing skills, plinking, or taking down small game. But big bores bring a new level of excitement when you can shoot at longer distances and target larger game. The Impact X is literally the gun that can do it all, and it’s available now from Airgun Depot. Let’s take a look at why the FX Impact X is so coveted in the market. FX Airguns is the brainchild of Fredrik Axelsson. A true airgun shooter himself and an incredible engineer, Axelson’s goal is to create extremely high quality and unique airguns, unmatched in the world and a versatile airgun that can handle almost any task. If you’re the kind of person who just wants to own an airgun, then the Impact X is for you. The Impact X is constructed from the most advanced materials in the industry, including aircraft-grade aluminum, carbon fiber and steel. Thanks to the liberal use of these space-age materials, the FX Impact X is very light, weighing only 7.05 lbs. The Impact X won’t tire you out on long days in the field. Not only are superior materials used, but precision machining and craftsmanship are present in every aspect of the Impact to ensure overall satisfaction and longevity. The levers are buttery smooth, nothing seems to snag or bind, and everything just fits together like a glove. The Impact X’s aluminum frame is a modular design that accepts standard AR-15 pistol grips and also offers plenty of room for Picatinny rails on both the bottom of the rifle and the sides. This allows for the mounting of bipods, sights such as lasers or our personal favourite, IR illuminators for use with night vision goggles. When it comes to mounting optics, the Impact X features a machined Picatinny optic rail that provides a solid mounting option for scopes, red dots, or night vision scopes. Balancing innovative design and materials with functionality and feel, this attention to functionality and aesthetics elements have consistently requested (if not back-ordered) this rifle since its launch! The Impact X’s air tank is one of our favorite features out of the many it has to offer. The Impact X uses a detachable 480cc carbon fiber cylinder that’s supercharged to 3600psi. What sets the Impact’s tank system apart from its competitors is that it’s a great option for hunters, as an extra tank can be loaded and carried into the field for quick changes without wasting much time. FX barrels are available in two jacket configurations. The simplest is a threaded configuration to which individual baffles can be bolted or removed to adjust the amount of sound suppression required for the caliber to give you the quietest possible shot. The other option uses a retractable shroud that slides out of the barrel when fired to quiet the rifle, and then retracts back down the barrel for carrying, making the rifle as compact as possible. This retractable or telescoping cover is the first of its kind and lets the hunter choose between compact portability or unobtrusive noise in seconds. In the smaller .177 & .22 calibers, the telescoping jacket is the only option. The higher caliber .25 & .30 come with the fixed moderator barrel. One of the biggest highlights of shooting the Impact X is the trigger. This two-stage, fully adjustable trigger pulls almost exactly 2 lbs out of the box. that is an impressive achievement in itself. The first stage of the trigger is fairly short and light. There is a good wall between the two stages and then the second stage breaks cleanly with almost no overtravel afterward. If you want to lighten the trigger or shorten the stages, you can easily do this by adjusting the trigger screws on the inside of the trigger housing. As mentioned, the Impact X accepts all standard AR15 grips and comes with the excellent Hogue grip. The Impact X is a joy to grip and shoot, as the smooth-action cycling side lever is placed just above the grip for ease. It’s positioned so well that you only need a finger or two to move the bolt and really don’t even have to take your hand completely off the grip or take your eye off the scope. These are some of the main reasons why so many have fallen in love with the Impact. This cocking lever placement makes the Impact X extremely fast to drive and fire. Thanks to the lack of noticeable recoil, follow-up shots are quicker than other models, and because the gun’s design is so ergonomic, there’s almost no learning curve for getting quick and accurate shots every time. Line up some cans or bottles and you can blast them as fast as you can pull the trigger. For a non-semi-automatic weapon, the Impact X is as fast as it gets thanks to this innovative feature. The FX Impact X is filled via a recessed male Foster quick release. This fitting is recessed in such a way that you’ll want to use the included FX Female Quick Coupler with whatever you want to fill your Impact X with for the best results. You will have trouble disconnecting a standard quick connector. The included fitting has machined edges to make it easier to grip and release. The Impact X features some of the largest rotary magazines you will find on an airgun. These large capacity magazines hold up to 21 rounds in .177 caliber, 18 rounds in .22 caliber, 16 rounds in .25 caliber and 14 rounds in .30 caliber. to achieve excellent burning performance in a range of preferences. These magazines, like all rotary FX magazines, are loaded by first turning the wheel all the way counter-clockwise, placing the first pellet in the skirt first from the bottom, then turning the wheel around and filling the rest of the magazine while you feed the first Fill pellet entered keeps the spring tension on the torsion spring. There is a force adjustment dial on the left side of the shutter. This wheel adjusts the spring tension and stroke length of the hammer. This means that a higher setting causes the hammer to hit the valve harder, releasing more air, and lower settings result in less air and less power. This feature allows for adjustments needed to maximize pellet accuracy. For example, you might have the maximum power wheel setting ready to handle 33.95g JSB King Heavies, but you also know you can convert the barrel to a .22 caliber barrel and find that setting 2 is perfect for 18.13g JSB Jumbo Heavies is. Speaking of changing calibers… One of the most innovative features of the Impact X is its use of the FX Smooth Twist X Interchangeable Barrel System. The real barrel of the gun is actually a Smooth Twist X barrel liner with a twist embossed on the outside. The manufacturing process results in an incredibly smooth and polished bore, eliminating fly-aways caused by lead build-up and other imperfections. However, the most exciting aspect of this system is the ability to swap out liners to get different twist rates. The standard .25 caliber liner with a 1:30 twist rate is optimized for JSB 25.39 grain pellets, but if you want to shoot slugs at distances unthinkable with pellets, you can use a barrel liner with a higher twist rate. And at a very affordable price, barrel liners won’t hurt your wallet. An added benefit of the twist throughout is that the barrels are less fiddly than the previous Smooth Twist barrels, although the barrels are constructed around JSB pellets and are still some of the most accurate. The Crown’s interchangeable barrel system opens up endless possibilities and is revolutionizing the world of airguns. Replacing liners is very easy. First, pull the sheath out completely and twist while continuing to push forward until it snaps into place. Then turn counterclockwise to unscrew. This will expose the wiper/shroud mount. Insert a pencil or screwdriver etc to loosen it and remove to reveal a threaded insert. Using a 10mm wrench, loosen these and remove to reveal the end of the Smooth Twist X’s bushing. To protect it, use a piece of rubber, cloth, leather, cardboard, etc., and use pliers to gently twist the protective film out enough so that you can grab it with your fingers and remove it completely. When removing the liner, at least one of the three O-rings can remain inside. If you can’t shake them out, don’t dry fire the gun. Simply remove the barrel and use a cleaning rod with a mop to push it out. (See the section below on changing calibers for barrel removal instructions.) Now take the barrel liner of your choice and place the three O-rings along its length. (The liner snaps into place on both the rear and front of the barrel, so the O-rings are there to dampen the liner’s vibrations and not center it. Don’t worry about each one being perfectly spaced. In fact, just an O -Ring in the middle does a pretty good job, when inserting the liner, turn clockwise to get the o-rings past the threads on the front end, then push in the barrel liner and twist a little if necessary. If you’re having trouble getting the o-rings all the way in, you can save yourself some trouble by taping them on both sides to hold them in place.Push the liner in until it stops.About a half inch remains protruding .Insert the threaded sleeve section and tighten gently so that it does not bend the liner and replace the air scraper, tightening firmly without overdoing it put the sheathing and you’re done! The whole process should take about five or five minutes. Note that you can’t change calibers by swapping out the liners – you’ll need a Barr El kit for that. Speaking of barrel kits… Part of the appeal of the Impact X’s modularity is its ability to switch barrels and calibers. Barrels are available in .177, .22, .25 and .30 calibers. Changing the barrel is a simple process. Simply loosen the thumbscrew holding the barrel and slide out the old barrel. The new barrel is placed in the gun, making sure the notch for the barrel retaining screw is on the left side of the gun. The barrel is pressed against the breech with minimal effort. Before shooting your rifle with the new barrel, you will also need to swap out the bullet probe and magazine with the appropriate caliber for your new barrel. With their focus on user-friendly design, this aspect is also easy to fulfill. To change the probe, you must pull back on the cocking handle slightly so that the probe set screw is visible through the slots in the side of the rifle. You will then need to loosen the probe retaining screw with a 1.5mm hex wrench to allow the probe to fall free. Once the screw is loose, slide the bumper down by loosening the bumper thumbscrew. After sliding the butt pad down, you can let the probe fall out of the rear of the rifle. Inserting the new probe is done in the reverse order, but be careful not to over-tighten the probe retaining screw as it is small and comes off easily. To do this, you need to adjust both the regulator and the hammer spring. There are some necessary tools required if you want to make the following adjustments. Not only do you need a good set of metric hex keys (we recommend not just a standard set but a ball hex key so you can reach the hex screws at angles), you need an accurate set of calipers and a chronograph is a must. Adjusting the regulator allows you to fine-tune the pressure at which the airgun operates, allowing you to dial-in the rifle for your chosen caliber (as well as fine-tune the air pressure released to the pellet size you’re using). ). Be careful when setting the controller! The regulator pressure can be increased with pressure in the regulator, otherwise the regulator will be destroyed and cause a repair not covered by the warranty! The best way to do this is to remove the carbon fiber air bottle and once removed turn the hammer spring adjuster to MIN, start the pistol and dry fire to bleed any remaining pressure in the regulator. Once the regulator is completely empty, you can turn your reg adjustment screw on the back of the trigger guard clockwise to decrease the regulator pressure. Since you don’t know what pressure you’re reducing it to, simply turn the regulator 1 to 2 turns, reinsert the air can, then increase the regulating pressure by turning it counter-clockwise to bring the pressure toward your target pressure bring. As mentioned above, it doesn’t take much more than a full turn or two to drastically change the knob. Avoid multiple turns so you can avoid bursting the o-rings on the adjuster if the adjuster adjustment is unscrewed too far. We’ll cover next. These are the ideal settings for the standard JSB bullets shown for each caliber. Heavier or lighter pellets may need to be adjusted with either the regulator or the hammer spring power wheel to find their optimum stability and accuracy. In general, remember that faster and more powerful triggering is not always what you should be looking for when it comes to accuracy. When changing calibers, the spring tension of the hammer may also need to be adjusted. Adjusting the hammer spring tension allows the shooter to control how hard or soft the trigger hits the valve. This factor, in turn, determines how much air is released when the gun is fired, which then determines how fast the bullet travels down the barrel. This is where a good set of calipers comes in. The hammer spring adjuster is located on the left side of the rifle next to the power dial. Before adjusting your hammer spring you should set the power dial to the maximum setting (in our opinion) and you will also find that the adjuster will be loose in its housing when the gun is not cocked. This is because the hammer spring is not cocked. To adjust the hammer spring, turn the adjustment screw with an Allen key. Turning the screw clockwise increases the spring tension of the hammer, which in turn increases the rate at which pellets exit the barrel. As you adjust the hammer spring tension in or out, you will find that the gap between the slot in the gun’s frame and where the tensioner housing rests decreases as you increase the tension and increases as you decrease the tension reduce. Measuring this distance with your calipers will allow you to properly adjust the FX factory settings for each caliber as shown in the factory settings table. Note that measurements are taken from the edge of the black sliding hammerspring housing to the edge of the beveled portion of the housing slot. There is also an air valve control knob mounted on the front of the breech block just above the carbon fiber tank. This setting controls the amount of valve flow, or air that can flow through the valve when it is hit. Turning the knob clockwise increases the setting and decreases power, counter-clockwise increases it. The default is that the fourth line is just visible. While there will be shooters who swear by fine-tuning the valve control knob as an aid to accuracy, for many shooters it is better to leave it alone. FX engineers have spent hours with the gun and know how to tune the gun for optimal harmony with these pellets at each caliber. Remember that more power isn’t always better as there will be a point where the return will decrease as a pellet becomes destabilized when thrown out of balance. That said, for those who know what they’re doing, and certainly when experimenting with heavier pellets, knowing how to adjust things will help maximize the Impact’s accuracy and performance. Just prepare to do your homework and maybe even spend some time with your Impact X manual as well as this guide! Shooting the Impact X is what it’s all about! There’s no denying that this gun is a head turner, and from a technical point of view it’s pretty amazing, but what really matters is if it shoots? Well, don’t worry, the Impact X will put lead on target all day. In fact, this manufacturer offers some of the most accurate rifles we’ve ever shot. Testing the .22 caliber version with 18.13-grain JSB pellets, we had no trouble holding sub-inch groups out to 50 yards. JSB pellets really do seem to be the ammo of choice for any FX gun in any caliber and are in fact what FX uses to base their barrels and factory setups on. These results were repeated when we tested the .25 Impact caliber. Carrying a jagged hole in the target seems natural for the FX Impact X, making it a powerful choice for amateurs and more experienced hunters alike. Out of the box, you can expect max speeds of up to 900 fps in .25 with 25.4-grain JSB pellets and around 920 fps in .22 with 15.89-grain JSB pellets. You can easily expect to get more power as you tune the gun to perfection and test heavier pellets. This aspect of crafting is actually a lot of fun if you own an Impact, as you can get your hands dirty and figure out how to tune the Impact X like a high-end race car for a more personalized product. From a hunting standpoint, be sure to check out our airgun hunting power recommendations for the type of game you can humanely take down with your Impact caliber. When it comes to noise cancellation, the volume of space added after the end of the run, really big, is the most important determining factor to reduce noise. When comparing the two different noise-cancelling configurations of the Impact X (telescopic barrel and standard moderator sections), we found no discernible difference between the two options in .177 or .22 caliber. It is worth noting that the larger .25 and .30 calibers benefited from the larger volume of the standard moderator sections. For the larger caliber fixed moderator barrels, additional moderator sections can be added to further reduce noise. Think of the FX Presenter as the Lego of presenters. The moderator sections unscrew and consist of a tail piece, Impact X center baffle sections and the connector (or connector that attaches to the end of the barrel). These pieces are approximately 2.5cm long and the Impact X Standard comes with 5 sections (3 middle sections, an end section and a connecting section). If you want more rejection, pick up extra midsections to add length, which adds (room for) volume and reduces (the sound of) volume. It’s that easy! Whether telescopic moderator for the smaller calibers or fixed moderator for the larger calibers; both appear to offer the same level of noise cancellation, ensuring the FX Impact X is quiet in any situation. On our sound meter, which tested both the .25 with the standard moderator and the .22 with the telescope function, both guns measured between 65 and 70 dB. These sound measurements mean it’s definitely quiet enough for the backyard or basement, and quiet enough that wildlife is unlikely to be startled by the shot. There is no shortage of accessories to add to your Impact X as it is one of the most modular PCP rifles to date. There is no hard case required as the Impact X comes with a nice hard case that has cut outs for all your supplements, scopes etc. As mentioned, you can swap out barrel calibers, add moderator sections and stock up on extra-large capacity magazines, or pick up a spare 480cc carbon fiber cylinder to swap out in the field. The bevy of Picatinny rails open up the Impact X to be dressed up like an AR15 if you wish. Lights, lasers, illuminators and more can easily be added, but the obvious choice is to add a quality, compact bipod to the underside of the FX Impact X. The good news is that the Impact X is light enough and well balanced that adding accessories won’t break your arm. We strongly recommend using an Evolution bipod as its modularity matches that of the Impact X itself. You can add longer legs, spikes or even a tripod mount on the same Evolution base. You’ll want to pick the FX No Limit Rings for the best results. These are incredible rings that actually allow you to vertically adjust and angle your mounts so you can always find the perfect spot in your scope. We’ve also teamed up with a local inventor to bring you some extra cool Impact X accessories. Robert over at RGM has created a magazine carrier with a pic rail mount that makes carrying a spare magazine super easy. Thanks to this innovative creation, designed to make life easier for airgun shooters, you no longer have to search in your pockets for your magazines. He also developed. This is incredibly useful on a long hunt in the field to get a feel for the bench while waiting for your game. As with all PCPs, the search for air is in play as you need a way to inflate your weapon. A hand pump is of course an option, but most people don’t like the idea of hand pumping an onboard 480cc cylinder. A better choice is to invest in an external carbon fiber tank or better yet, the new budget friendly Air Venturi Compressor or Air Venturi Power Booster to use with your shop compressor. If you’re considering buying an Impact, most likely this isn’t your first PCP and you already have some. Make sure to post your own review of the FX Impact X once you’ve gotten it and shot some lead-down range .
Does FX impact come with hard case?
When the FX IMPACT MKll air rifles arrives from the factory, they should arrive in pallet boxes, and they should be inside their own individual hard plastic cases. This is the same for all of the other air rifles models (IMPACT, and IMPACT X).

Welcome to EuropeAirguns!
On this occasion we will show you how an FX IMPACT MKll airgun should be received when you buy it, in what conditions it should arrive and what accessories should be included in its case.
When the FX IMPACT MKll airguns arrive from the factory they should arrive in pallet boxes and in their own hard plastic cases. This also applies to all other air rifle models (IMPACT and IMPACT X). The new FX IMPACT MKll cases have a different closure; this allows for easier and quicker access to the airgun. However, compared to the previous IMPACT models (IMPACT, X, MKll), this is a decent upgrade.
Inside the hard plastic case we should come across the following:
– A new airgun; the FX IMPACT MKll.
– A magazine called SS HIGH CAPACITY. Although the process of the magazine system is the same, the magazine has a new entrance; This new entrance has a removable plastic layer that makes refilling the pellets much easier.
– 1.5mm allen key (required to install the needle)
– Needle (necessary to use the airgun)
– Foster connector
– air tank; Air is not supplied. This gives peace of mind that when the airgun is shipped by sea or air, there will be no delay in transportation. Of course, it also guarantees that the airgun has never been used.
– User Guide
– Four compartments for magazines
– Extra space for a barrel
– Four slots for pellet cans
IMPORTANT: For your own safety and the safety of others, the airgun must be treated like any other weapon.
We hope this brief description has helped you learn something about what to expect when purchasing your FX IMPACT MKll rifle.

The FX Monsoon is the pinnacle of semi-automatic airguns! The fast-firing, semi-automatic system uses the wasted air behind the pellet to clock the bolt and index the magazine. FX has incorporated its 12-round magazine to offer maximum fun! While air blast noise is reduced by the self-cycling action, the full-size barrel cover further reduces the muzzle report to a near “whisper”. Following traditional lines, the Monsoon uses a standard air cylinder capable of withstanding 200 bar of pressure. The cocking bolt handle features a rear locking slot that allows for safe loading and refilling of the rifle without risk of misfire. The FX Monsoon has a safety catch on the left side of the breech that prevents the rifle from firing. The FX Monsoon delivers 28-30 ft/lbs of constant energy in .22 caliber (18 ft/lbs in .177) with seemingly no noticeable recoil, and the bolt action mechanism is smooth and positive. The rifle has a capacity of 36 rounds per load in .22 (48 rounds in .177) making it a pleasure to shoot and very effective for hunting applications. The 12-round magazine (16 rounds in .177) and the semi-automatic ensure extremely fast follow-up shots in the field. The FX Monsoon combines fast firing tension with traditional lines and practical application. Adding to their legacy, FX continues to impress with the semi-automatic Monsoon.

FX IMPACT M3 SNIPER BRONZE 5.5MM
description
FX IMPACT M3 SNIPER BRONZE 5.5MM
The FX Impact is considered the best airgun ever made. The proof is undeniable in the FX Impact M3 Sniper Bronze 5.5mm. The presence of this dominates the competition lines, so shooters continue to expand what you can do with this rifle. It works, it delivers and continues to provide the basis for innovation. The FX Impact M3 makes the claim: It is the most advanced, most exciting and most precise air rifle there is.
The functions
For even more power, the M3 has a larger plenum. FX has increased its capacity to no less than 72cc! This is a major attraction, especially for snail shooters. In addition, the larger 580cc carbon fiber shrouded air tank is standard on the M3, allowing for a much higher shot count.
Another improvement is the incorporation of two controllers. The first regulator is a tiny device built into the HPA bottle connector. This puts less load on the (second) main controller. The result is a more consistent output pressure from the regulator, which of course causes less FPS variability from shot to shot.
In addition, the M3 features the new FX Quick Tune system. Thanks to this major upgrade, you can easily adjust almost all of the many Tune settings without tools. The pressure is of course adjusted via the dual regulators. The valve adjuster controls the “open time” of the valve and meters the HPA charge downstream of the pellet or auger.
You can adjust the hammer’s spring tension with the traditional Power Wheel, now with 16 levels. However, there is also a Micro Fine hammer spring adjuster. This allows you to adjust muzzle velocity in increments as precise as 1 or 2 FPS difference! In addition, the side lever clamping system can be mounted with both hands. And the new trigger allows the trigger post to be moved forward and backward. It also has a crisper second stage.
Similarly, for long-range shooters, the Picatinny scope rail now has a built-in angle of 20 MOA. This keeps scope turrets from running out of adjustment clicks to compensate for extreme projectile drop at longer ranges. Finally, the M3 includes high-quality Wika pressure gauges as standard. There is no point in having all this precision adjustment capability built into the gun if it is not possible to accurately measure the internal pressure!

The most advanced, innovative, exciting and accurate airgun ever created.
Dual controls
The improvements in the M3 start with its dual controls. The 1st regulator reduces the air pressure in preparation for the 2nd regulator. As a result, the 2nd regulator is less loaded and a more constant outlet pressure with lower standard deviations is achieved.
Power plenum 720
The FX Power Plenum 720 is the new power source of the Impact M3. This larger diameter plenum and its 72cc compressed air volume provide both the exact amount of air and the power needed to propel the projectile. This new plenum works in concert with the M3’s porting and valving to deliver the best performance and efficiency available.
Quick tune system
One of the Impact M3’s major upgrades is the rifle’s user interface: the Quick Tune System. This essentially tool-less system includes everything a shooter can use to fine-tune their rifle’s accuracy and offers unlimited possibilities. You can adjust the air pressure for the rifle with the dual controls, how long the valve stays open with the front valve adjuster, and now adjust the power of the hammer with the all-new micro and macro power adjusters. The Macro Power Wheel has a 16-position dial that can be used to adjust the strength of the hammer in small increments. This works in conjunction with the Micro Adjuster. This adjusts hammer strength in incredibly small increments with each click of the idler wheel, all at the push of a button. This combination is unrivaled in the world of airguns!
More improvements
Other improvements are vast and include an ambidextrous, short-travel cocking lever with an enlarged grip, dual transfer ports on most calibers, tighter tolerances across the entire rifle, an updated trigger that offers a crisp break while still allowing for forward or backward movement of the trigger post. 20 MOA built into the scope rail, dual Wika gauges and a plethora of upcoming optional accessories.
Due to different regulations, the rifle may be factory set for a lower muzzle energy.”
